Reports: F2 and beyond.

 Swaffham’s season opener raised a hugely disappointing 6 cars.  Perhaps more concerning was that all 6 were Standlake-based visitors, with several who could be considered locals unfortunately conspicuous by their absence.  Of those in attendance, 321 Maisie Emms made only her 2 nd visit to the track, while the other 5 could be considered more frequent visitors. AWAITNG THE START OF PRACTICE The opening laps of heat 1 were predictably quiet as lone white-grader Emms led the pack away.   563 Keith Walding made a slight break from the remaining trio of reds, as 421 Gary Webb and 105 Louis Williams gained on 352 Andy Webb at the end of the 3 rd lap.   The next few laps passed without event, before 185 Jess Webb spun on the exit of turn 4 as the final 3 laps began, allowing those behind to all gain.   Williams passed Gary Webb for 3 rd as Walding reeled in Emms a lap later, although the 321 car was able to withstand the hit.   Another effort on the fi...

 The first meeting of the delayed 2021 season saw a fantastic 31 cars in the pits and snow falling from the sky, although luckily this was to clear up just before the meeting started.   The impressive entry was bolstered by a mix of new drivers and others making rare appearances at the track. DEBUTANT 210 PATRICK SOMERTON  A FIRST MEETING SINCE PROGRESSING FROM THE JUNIOR CLASS FOR 714 LOUIS RAYNER 210 Patrick Somerton and Juniors points champion 714 Louis Rayner made their F2 debuts , while 744 Harry Adams made his full debut after a one-off in brother Will’s car at Grimley in 2019.   420 Ade Baker made his first appearance at Standlake for a couple of seasons , 246 Alex Broadway was back on track after a 6-year absence and there were track debuts for 488 Owen Stringer and 542 Martin Chant.   The lineup was completed by frequent Grimley visitors 42 Ash Greening and 252 Izzy and 299 Will Jackson.   HOOSIERS WERE THE TYRE OF CHOICE FOR 488 OWEN STRINGER Th...

21 cars were in attendance for the penultimate points meeting of the year, as Standlake continues its run of 20+ car meetings stretching back to the end of 2019.  Surprise Scottish visitor 92 John Hogg completed a 600-mile round trip to be in attendance following his visit for the Open meeting last month.  42 Ash Greening was another unexpected attendee due to his ‘home’ track Grimley also running a meeting at the same time.  The H2 Butcher car was piloted by Stephen Bailey making his F2 debut and finally 26 Steve Turner debuted a new car. 92 John Hogg, a long way from home! 421 Gary Webb in the 280 Pete Webb car Heat 1 started with 20 cars as 2 Craig Passey pulled off before the green flag.  Pole sitter 509 Jordan Butcher lead into turn 1 as 185 Jess Webb got by 533 Stuart Pitson for 2 nd with 486 Jez Watts also gaining a place on the latter, as he dropped back a few places in the opening lap.  776 James Trigg got the better of 534 Tom Stoodley on turn 2 f...

The 12 cars in attendance for Swaffham’s 4 th meeting of the season were greeted with a day of changeable weather, making track conditions tricky all day.   A superb travelling effort from Standlake-based drivers saw 8 of them in attendance; of those 155 Carl Lewis and 534 Tom Stoodley made their first appearances at the track.   2019 Ringwood points champion 72 Chris Langridge made his 2 nd visit of the season and was joined by 211 Chris East on his first 2020 visit away from his home track.   12 Vince Foley and 14 Rob Taylor completed the entry as the only ‘local’ drivers. 12 VINCE FOLEY 14 ROB TAYLOR'S 2ND APPEARANCE OF THE YEAR With all cars for heat 1 on a wet track, lone white top 185 Jess Webb set the early place ahead of Stoodley and 509 Jordan Butcher.   563 Keith Walding passed 421 Gary Webb into turn 3 before Butcher spun on turn 1, although he was able to quickly recover quickly and only dropped back to 4th. The 6 th running of the Standlake Open Championship raised a record turnout of 33 cars (beating the previous record of 32 dating back to April 2010) and included a fantastic visiting effort from the northern Outlaws, who were represented by 92 John Hogg, 258 Chris Hart, 289 Jamie Whittaker, 555 Josh Walton, 725 Paul Broatch, 747 Neil Pinkney and 888 Simon Edwards – with the majority making their Standlake debuts. 258 CHRIS HART SCOTTISH VISITOR 92 JOHN HOGG RINGWOOD'S 138 GARY TWEDDLE 42 Ash Greening was the lone Grimley visitor, Ringwood were represented by 13 Gavin Ward and track debutant 138 Gary Tweddle.   For the local entry 776 James Trigg made his first appearance of the year sporting a new self-built car.
