Reports: F2 and beyond.

The 12 cars in attendance for Swaffham’s 4 th meeting of the season were greeted with a day of changeable weather, making track conditions tricky all day.   A superb travelling effort from Standlake-based drivers saw 8 of them in attendance; of those 155 Carl Lewis and 534 Tom Stoodley made their first appearances at the track.   2019 Ringwood points champion 72 Chris Langridge made his 2 nd visit of the season and was joined by 211 Chris East on his first 2020 visit away from his home track.   12 Vince Foley and 14 Rob Taylor completed the entry as the only ‘local’ drivers. 12 VINCE FOLEY 14 ROB TAYLOR'S 2ND APPEARANCE OF THE YEAR With all cars for heat 1 on a wet track, lone white top 185 Jess Webb set the early place ahead of Stoodley and 509 Jordan Butcher.   563 Keith Walding passed 421 Gary Webb into turn 3 before Butcher spun on turn 1, although he was able to quickly recover quickly and only dropped back to 4th. The 6 th running of the Standlake Open Championship raised a record turnout of 33 cars (beating the previous record of 32 dating back to April 2010) and included a fantastic visiting effort from the northern Outlaws, who were represented by 92 John Hogg, 258 Chris Hart, 289 Jamie Whittaker, 555 Josh Walton, 725 Paul Broatch, 747 Neil Pinkney and 888 Simon Edwards – with the majority making their Standlake debuts. 258 CHRIS HART SCOTTISH VISITOR 92 JOHN HOGG RINGWOOD'S 138 GARY TWEDDLE 42 Ash Greening was the lone Grimley visitor, Ringwood were represented by 13 Gavin Ward and track debutant 138 Gary Tweddle.   For the local entry 776 James Trigg made his first appearance of the year sporting a new self-built car. Sunday 20th September - Standlake Open Championship ROLL OF HONOUR 2015 732 DAZ KITSON 2016 212 NEIL SOULE 2017 352 ANDY WEBB 2018 87 JACK WEST 2019 856 PAUL WEBB The 6 th running of the Standlake Open Championship sees a massive 40 cars booked in ready to fight for the trophy.   Not only will this be the largest attendance for the Open Championship, it will in fact be the biggest F2 turnout ever seen at Standlake and possibly at any Outlaw tarmac/concrete meeting ever! The race itself is looking like it will be completely wide open, with the unpredictable nature of the Standlake track combined with the larger grids meaning any number of drivers are in with a chance of victory. The third Standlake meeting of the season saw a restricted entry of 24 cars and as a result the use of a 2/3rds format for the first time in several seasons.   After 2 meetings and with 6 different winners from 7 races, the points were as follows: 534 Tom Stoodley made his F2 debut in a smart looking car, while the visiting entry saw a track debut for Ringwood based 13 Gavin Ward and a first visit of 2020 for Grimley points champion 42 Ash Greening.   109 Stuart Biddle and 486 Jez Watts made their first appearances of the year and 418 Robert Casey made his Standlake debut. 13 GAVIN WARD 486 JEZZ WATT'S FIRST APPEARANCE SINCE LATE 2018 A SMART RCE FOR THE DEBUTING 534 TOM STOODLEY 16 cars were out on track for heat 1 and it was 38 Gavin Busby who got the better of fellow front row starter 321 Maisie Emms to lead into the first turn.  Casey passed 533 Stuart Pitson to grab 3 rd as Greening made early progress ahead of 563 Keith Walding and 421 Gary Webb.  Emms made ...

18 cars were in attendance for Swaffham’s August weekender, this time competing for the Norfolk Championship.   The now customary invasion from Standlake was headlined by current Swaffham and Standlake gold roof 856 Paul Webb.   Amongst the visiting Standlake entry were 2 Craig Passey, 96 Don Pugh, 321 Maisie Emms and 418 Robert Casey making their track debuts (with the latter making a complete F2 debut).   13 Gavin Ward was the sole visitor from Ringwood and the entry was completed by 12 Vince Foley and 221 Tom Sneddon as the only ‘home’ drivers. After grid positions were drawn, Heat 1 started with 47 Jake Perry and 509 Jordan Butcher on the front row and it was the former who got the early lead ahead of 105 Louis Williams, who passed Butcher on the opening lap while Passey was a first lap retirement.   Perry lost his lead to Williams and then Butcher also made a move on lap 2, while Paul Webb made a strong start from row 4 and quickly passed the latter pairing ...

A pleasing total of 20 cars were in the pits for the first meeting back, with some new faces among the usual suspects.  There were F2 debuts for 533 Stuart Pitson and 666 Liam Renney, a return with a stunning new car and number for 713 Liam Cornish, while 756 Ryan Mulley made a rare Standlake appearance and 710 Vince Stone was another surprising attendee. All cars were out for heat 1 with 185 Jess Webb and 47 Jake Perry on pole.  It was the former who took the lead into turn 1 ahead of Perry and 2 Craig Passey.  623 Rob Dobie was quick away from the yellow grade and moved up into 4 th on the opening lap, before Perry lost out to both Passey and Dobie a lap later.  Further back 563 Keith Walding had made the best start from red grade and moved past 261 Roger Mountney and 509 Jordan Butcher into turn 3 to break into the top 10. A fantastic turnout of 19 cars for Swaffham’s first meeting under the new promotion, with this meeting running as the Andrew Warne Memorial. There was a strong visiting entry from Standlake – including for the first time ever – all 5 members of the Webb family on track at the same time. 185 Jess, 352 Andy, 421 Gary and 856 Paul were joined by a rare outing for 280 Pete. 47 Jake Perry, 105 Louis Williams, 508 Terry & 509 Jordan Butcher, 563 Keith Walding and 623 Rob Dobie were the other Standlake attendees, while Ringwood points champion 72 Chris Langridge also made the trip up. Amongst the local entry, 151 Craig Holland, 227 Nathan Potter and 246 Anthony Warne made their first F2 appearances.
