Reports: F2 and beyond.

2021 SEASON REVIEW After the end of the 2020 season was curtailed early, it was hoped that 2021 could start on time and a full season of racing would take place.  Sadly, a handful of early-season meetings were lost and the racing would eventually begin behind closed doors in April. Standlake’s Easter bank holiday Monday meeting kicked off the season and with it a huge turnout of 31 cars, which is even more impressive when you consider that this was a restricted entry!  Newcomers 210 Patrick Somerton and 714 Louis Rayner were joined by a handful of Grimley visitors and in a 2/3rds format. The returning 420 Ade Baker took victory in heat 1, 155 Carl Lewis won a lively 2 nd heat before 509 Jordan Butcher took his first Standlake win in heat 3.  The final was red flagged 2 laps early with 299 Will Jackson taking the win ahead of 109 Stuart Biddle and 563 Keith Walding.  Lewis took his 2 nd win of the day in the grand national. 2 weeks later and Ringwood opened it...

The final Standlake outing for the F2s in 2021 saw 26 cars in attendance, with the battle for the Gold Roof coming down to a 2-way duel between 155 Carl Lewis and 352 Andy Webb – the former holding a 27 point lead at the start of the meeting.   The remaining entry included a 2 nd  visit of the year from northern Outlaw 132 Dean Mawson, a debut for 6 Tyler Newman and a one-off return for former Standlake and BriSCA racer 710 Brett Townsend. F2 DEBUTANT 6 TYLER NEWMAN IN AN EX 776 JAMES TRIGG CAR 710 BRETT TOWNSEND MADE A ONE-OFF RETURN OUT OF RETIREMENT 17 cars took the track for heat 1 and despite his 2 nd  row start, 488 Owen Stringer led the field into turn 1 as he got the better start and gained on 26 Steve Turner and 821 Linz Richens in the process.  776 James Trigg made a strong start from the front of the blue grade and passed 109 Stuart Biddle on the opening lap as 535 Ryan Stoodley and 563 Keith Walding moved ahead of 185 Jess Webb. Standlake's penultimate meeting of the season saw 26 cars in the pits, after the late arrival of debutant 609 Josh Breakspear.  Amongst the entry were first outings this year for 418 Robert Casey and 586 Adam Walding-Kelly, while 214 Stella Lacey made just her 2 nd ever outing in the Steve Turner hire car.  Finally 12 Vince Foley and 242 Mick Jackson made rare Standlake appearances. 586 ADAM WALDING-KELLY MAKING A RARE APPEARANCE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE 609 JOSH BREAKSPEAR MADE HIS F2 DEBUT 17 cars took the track for heat 1, with pole-sitter 88 Ross Innocent taking the lead into turn 1 ahead of 254 Harry Heffer and 776 James Trigg who made a strong start from yellow grade.  Walding-Kelly passed Foley into turn 3 at the back of the field, although lost the position a lap later. 716 Jim Muckian made quick progress and after a brief battle with Heffer and Innocent in which all 3 took turns to head the field, found himself in the lead as the 88 car started to drop b...

A sign of the strength of Standlake’s F2 scene is the fact that a 30-car turnout for the annual Open Championship would be considering slightly disappointing and lower than expected.  The country-wide fuel issues and upcoming packed fixtures from the northern Outlaws left the record attendance safe from being broken just yet. Sunday sees the 7 th  running of Standlake’s Open Championship and at the time of writing, would see the largest ever turnout at the track with 36 cars booked in, with almost all points of the Outlaw F2 scene represented.
